Instructions for Authors
Dear Authors,
Congratulations on your paper, recently accepted to Information Systems Research! When accepted papers are added to the journal’s "Articles in Advance" page, we like to share the news on ISR’s social media pages (LinkedIn & WeChat, etc.) by featuring your paper using the structured abstract format below.
Please note that the English structured abstract may not exceed 2700 characters (including spaces, per LinkedIn Post Limit). To find the character count, highlight the text, then choose Word Count under the Review tab in Word. It is recommended to prepare the following information in Word before you copy and paste into the system.
- Article Title
- Problem: What is your research problem/question in simple terms?
- Relevance: Why is this problem relevant for research and/or practice?
- Theoretical foundations: What theory (theories) underlie this work (if applicable)?
- Methodology: What is the research approach used (if applicable)? Anything innovative?
- Results: What are the key findings that readers may find interesting or revelatory?
- Contributions: What is novel/impactful about the knowledge offered by this paper for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers?
- Short quote (optional)
- Keywords
When your article is added to the "Articles in Advance" page on the journal’s website, we will post the above information on ISR’s Social Media channel. Have a look at examples of previously posted abstracts.

Multilingual Opt-in: We plan to publish translations of the structured abstract in multiple languages. If your team is not familiar with a language but wants to opt in social media promotion, consider using GenAI to translate your English text into the language, then check "ISR manager review needed" in the system. A manager will review and edit the language for you.
